In an article published in the Downtown Journal, HIRE Minnesota called on the city of Minneapolis to fund job training and placement programs as part of any deal on the Vikings stadium.  The city of Minneapolis cannot afford to spend money on a stadium without also addressing the needs of its people.

Minneapolis has some of the worst disparities in the nation, with people of color up to three times more likely to be unemployed than white people.  “These numbers are unacceptable,” said HIRE Minnesota Coalition Organizer Avi Viswanathan. “Even more unacceptable would be spending hundreds of millions of public dollars without doing anything to address the employment disparity.”

HIRE Minnesota calls on our elected leaders to agree to a significant, ongoing investment from the revenue generated for the lease of our stadium.
